Now that the conditions are improving slowly and some countries are doing much better in this pandemic situation, travelling has become normal again. You can even travel to places which have not been affected by the virus for example, the plateau of the world, Tibet. If you are planning to go to Tibet, there are some important things you should know about the place. So here are a few details that should be useful to you before you start applying for the Tibet Visa.

  1. Apply for the Chinese Visa

Tibet was a separate piece of land a long time ago but now the whole of Tibet belongs to the Chinese government. So technically if you want to travel from any country to Tibet, you will have to apply for a normal Chinese Visa. 

  1. Restrictions on Tibetan Autonomous Region

There are areas in Tibet which are known as Tibetan Autonomous Region and they are restricted to organized tours and are independently open to only the Hong Kong Citizens and the Chinese people of the territories. Most areas of the Tibet is open for visitors and these areas are mostly considered to be the best tourist spots in the country. You will not even need a local guide to help you explore the Tibetan culture because the locals will freely guide you during your Tibet Trip

  1. Travel permits

The Tibetan Autonomous Region also known as TAR can be visited with the only condition that you have to have a Tibet Travel Permit. You will have to approach a Tibet tour operator and apply for the permit which will take around two to three weeks. You will need to provide your Chinese Visa copies and also copies of your passport for the documentation process. 

  1. Carry prescribed medicines

You should always carry your medicines if you have health issues but you have to carry a prescription for each of those medicines. You should also check with your travel agent if your medicines will be allowed beyond the airport. You can prepare yourself for mountain sickness which happens in Tibet because the entire country is located at a high altitude and Tibet weather can be harsh at places. You can simply buy your medicines at the Tibetan airports.
