Hair Loss Treatments Available For Women Till Today

Hair loss is an issue more common with aging men but it is not that women do not suffer from this. However, their percentage is less as compared to men. The hair loss in women can be temporary, reversible, or permanent. While the temporary and reversible hair loss occurs for a short period of time causing hair to re-grow again, the permanent hair loss is something to be concerned about. There are many treatments available to reverse the lost hair in the contemporary world.

How Can The Hair Thinning Be Reduced?

The hair thinning induced by some temporary physical or medical conditions gets over on its own once the physical health is improved or course of medication is discontinued.

The hair thinning resulting out of women pattern baldness or alopecia can be corrected by medicines as well as hair loss treatments. The woman may need one or a combination of hair loss treatments which can continue for a month, several months or a few years to get rid of the hair loss.

  1. Minoxidil topical solution: this is used to treat alopecia areata or androgenic alopecia. This comes in the form of a liquid or foam which is to be applied to the scalp for at least 6 months. This initially leads to hair loss and the new hairline is thinner and shorter than before.

  2. Topical tretinoin: this is also known as Retin-A. it is used in combination with minoxidil to treat androgenic alopecia.

  3. Corticosteroids Injections: this is used to treat alopecia areata by injecting it to the bald areas of the scalp of the woman. The hair growth is visible in a short period of 4 weeks and the treatment can be taken every 4 to 6 weeks for better results.

  4. Topical anthralin: this medicine is also used for the treatment of alopecia areata. This is found to a very effective for reversing alopecia areata. This is available in the form of a solution which can be easily applied at home. Initially, it is to be left on the scalp for 5 minutes and the duration is to be increased gradually. After that, it is to be washed with soap and cold water. The new hair growth is visible in two to three months.

  5. PRP Therapy: PRP hair loss treatment is the injection of platelet-rich plasma of the woman undergoing the process to her bald areas of the scalp. This includes withdrawing of blood from the woman body and filtering it to obtain platelet-rich plasma which is again inserted to the person’s body. This is a really simple, safe, and cost-effective procedure.

Thus, women may face hair loss due to several reasons. The hair loss which is temporary resolves on its own and the hair starts to appear again after some time. In cases of permanent hair loss, medicines and simple treatments can be used for treating it and getting the long lustrous hair back. It is important to consult a dermatologist as well as hair loss specialist before treating the hair loss.
